For the 20th time, we participe at the belgian Antique Dealers Fair ( ex Beaux-Arts ). Brafa is rated actualy as the 3rd Art/Antiques Fair in Europe, with some 40.000 visitors and 130 participants. As each year at this time, a lot of (mainly private) collectors, dealers and musea are looking "daily" at our website here, to discover the chinese porcelains , that we will bring at the Fair. We have been working since february to built up the collection and actualy we have some 240 new acquisitons, for 90% from private sources. Let me tell you more about it:  in march, we took over the collection of dr. Defraigne ( Tourcoing, France ): a small classical but beautifull collection of Kangxi blue & white, mounted with 19th century dutch silver. In june, we were invited at a " jetset " cocktail party in Groningen ( Netherlands) . By visiting the house upstairs, we noticed a dutch vitrine filled up with quality Wanli & Kangxi porcelain. ( a recent heritage from the parents ). The owners assured me they were more embarrased than pleased with this collection. And yes ...... 3 weeks later, the collection changed hands.

At Brafa'09 , we presented 4 Wanli "egret" marked porcelains ( from a total of 45 ever produced ) . These marked Ming porcelains are ranked as the most rare ever produced. Mauro Rinaldi ( " Kraak Porcelain", 1989) mentions in her book , p. 195 ) : .....3 such plates are in France ... And yes again .... 2 from them changed hands . We travelled in july to the tropical Cote d'Azur to take them in possession . You can admire them  further on here .

You will remember certainly the marvellous collection of chinese porcelains, from the V.P. Collection in Den Haag. Mother and son V.P. heritated it from the husband/ father, who was one of the great private collectors in the Netherlands. His knowledge and keen eye was legendary . In october we were delighted to visit them again. And yet again we are most gratefull to them to be able to present some of their objects ( 32), this time focused on " chinese taste" porcelain .  Other highlights : f.e. the "black burnished stemcup" is exceptional and remarquable, for it is the oldest stemcup, and egg-shell object in chinese ceramic history ! The "ruby back semi-egg-shell" Yongzheng period in perfect condition : it looks normal to see one again, but it is not !!!! The " Transitional blue/white ewer: another rarity, speaks for itself !

We hope to see you  during your visit at Brafa'10,  to show you around in our stand  B 17  and to enjoy together  the collection of some 220  fine chinese ceramics.
